Woah! Time for an overdue update!

You may think nothing has happened in my watercolor world since last September.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  It has been  a wonderful year and a half since our move from Indiana to New Hampshire where I have found my new “art tribe.” A quick update:

September 2025 - began teaching watercolors again during a three week class at Salem High School Adult Education. The subject was one of my passions, travel journals. It has been so rewarding to see the students catch the same passion.

September - October 2025  Created a 4” x 4” book based on I Corinthians 13, the love chapter, with my grandchildren to enter the Museum of Printing Haverill Massachusetts Bible Bound International Juried Exhibition. Our book made the cut along with 25 other artists from around the world! The museum itself is a unique jewel that displays the history of printing. Read about it here: https://museumofprinting.org/

How do you bind a 4” x 4” book that measures over four feet long? It came to me to try a Jacob’s Ladder binding. It was a challenge, but it worked.

November 2025 - sponsored a watercolor mission trip fundraiser for Centerpoint Church, Salem New Hampshire. It is always magical to see what first time watercolor artists create!

December 2025 - entered the Greater Salem Art Association winter juried show with an experimental painting of dahlias and hydrangeas on watercolor ground prepared wooden panel.

January 2026  - February 2026. It was time to teach my “Fun” damentals of Watercolor series featuring the basics of watercolor and color theory. The Paint Party venue, owned by artist Sherry Burnett,  became my teaching studio, https://www.paintpartynh.com/ The students worked really hard for six weeks culminating in painting fruits and veggies from life using compliments and analogous color pallets.

My demo paintings using the red/green, blue/orange, violet yellow complement/ analogous pallet.

March 2026  - Painting Loose Flowers class - it seemed time to paint spring flowers. But, I didn’t realize the growing season difference between Indiana and New Hampshire! There were no daffodils, tulips, or flowering trees to be found! So we painted blooms from purchased bouquets. I realize how ingrained it is in me to paint what naturally grows at the same time. These are my demo pieces.

Almost caught up on my art journey, if you are still reading.

Monday mornings from 11:00am - 12:00 I like to paint along with Yves - Marie Salanson, the art director for Sennelier, The French manufacturer of high quality Colors for artists since 1887. Last week my grandchildren were on spring break so they joined me to paint lemons. What fun!

This week I finished a commission to paint a two house portraits for a friend  to give to her daughters as a souvenir of the house where they grew up.  It is always a pleasure to create paintings that hold memories.

This brings my art journey up to date.

Presently, I am getting ready for the art walk at Tuscan Village in Salem, New Hampshire, Saturday, May 9. Come find me painting along with many other Salem artists and go home with original art, cards, and prints.

Last, but not least, I will be hosting a plein air workshop here on the marsh along with artist Christine Arruda, Saturday, May 23. Click on the Paint Party website under »events »to register. https://www.paintpartynh.com/reserve-your-easel
